Pruning: The Basics
Apple and pear trees should be pruned in winter to maintain a healthy shape and size and to ensure they will fruit plentifully for future decades.
We will teach you the theory and practice of winter fruit tree pruning, and together we will help to maintain the fruit trees at Harehills Park Community Orchard. This event is in collaboration with Back to Front Harehills.

What to bring
If you have them, please bring along a sharp pair of secateurs, loppers, a pruning saw and a pair of rubber grip gardening gloves. Tools and gloves will be provided if you don’t have your own.
Remember to wear clothes and footwear appropriate for the weather, mud, and uneven ground!
We’ll provide
Tea and coffee.
Participants will each receive a copy of Chloe Ward's excellent pruning guide "for real people with imperfect trees".
Tools for anyone who doesn’t have their own.
Tiered payment structure:
Bursary ticket - Donation (pay what you can afford)
Reduced price ticket - £15
Standard price ticket - £25
