Wortley Rec Apple Day

  • Wortley Recreation Ground Leeds, England, LS12 4DS United Kingdom (map)

Join Fruit Works and Friends of Wortley Rec on Saturday 12th September to celebrate the apple harvest season.

The main activity will be apple juice making using a traditional manual scratter and apple press. There will also be a craft stall, tea and cake, and lots of different apple varieties to taste.

There will be reusable cups available to use but please bring your own if you can. You are also encouraged to bring an empty bottle to fill with juice to take home, and any homegrown apples or pears you would like to press if you have them.

This is a family friendly event - people of all ages and abilities are welcome. The event is free and there is no need to book, just turn up!

Accessibility: The juicing will take place in the orchard, which is on grassy uneven ground (see map below). There is a wheelchair-friendly concrete path that runs through the park and alongside the orchard. Please contact gini@fruitworks.org.uk for any questions about accessibility.

This event is organised by Fruit Works Co-operative and Friend of Wortley Rec and is funded by the Wildlife Trusts, thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
