Tree Care Bundle: Stake, Tie, Mulch Mat and Woodchip from Local Repurposed Materials

£10.95

The recommended items to give your tree(s) the best start in life, sourced from local Leeds waste products:

  • 5ft Hazel stakes from Leeds Coppice Workers. Made from hazel that’s harvested in the process of coppicing (a sustainable woodland management system). Hazel is a very durable wood producing stakes that will last many years, which is why it’s always our first choice. These stakes are 5ft and easily installed using a hammer.

  • ‘Ties’ made from bicycle inner tubes from Leeds Bike Mill. These are no longer any good for bike wheels, but they are great for staking trees. The stretch means that trees don’t get strangled by the tie as the trunk expands.

  • Mulch mats from North Star Coffee. A half hessian sack with a slit down the middle makes an excellent mulch mat that biodegrades naturally. We help our friends at North Star Coffee to divert their hessian sacks away from landfill/incineration.

  • Woodchip from local tree surgeons. Woodchip is a must around the base of any new fruit tree, helping to feed the soil, lock in moisture and prevent the growth of weeds. Hardwood, part rotted for the best impact.

With this bundle, you’ll be giving your tree the best possible start, while also making use of locally sourced materials that could have gone to waste.

Collection only from Leeds (or local delivery)
